You Don’t Need More Time to Be Mindful
Hello, Community!
In the spirit of Mindful Monday, I am sharing a short and sweet tidbit of wisdom I learned from my teacher, Michiko.
Being mindful doesn’t take more time. It takes intention and attention.
When we keep our attention on our intention to be present in the moment, we simply need to stop or press pause and reset anytime we notice we are stuck in our heads or living on autopilot.
The most direct line into the present moment is our breath.
The practice ~
Let’s practice a single breath meditation—a Zen technique I learned from Michiko and my go-to tool.
Stop in the name of love.
Say “whoosh”—ride that grounding exhalation into the present moment.
Honor the still point at the bottom of the breath. Press your sit bones or feet into the earth.
Catch the next breath wave—inhaling slowly through your nose.
Pause at the top, reaching stillness. Head to the sky.
Exhale—sigh out the breath.
Keep the breath flowing forward, feeling centered in yourself and ready to continue with a clear mind and a peaceful heart.
I invite you to practice the singe breath mediation with me this week. Notice the shift in the way you feel and in the way you are showing up moment to moment. Catch more mindful moments of peace, joy, appreciation, gratitude and presence.
Thank you for being here!
